Are you welcoming Jesus or is it Jesus welcoming you?

July 17, 2024—Today the National Eucharistic Congress comes together at Lucas Oil stadium, Indianapolis, where the pilgrimage from the four corners across the United States of America converge! There are crowds of pilgrims lining up to enter the stadium to witness a Eucharistic revival, a historic moment in the life of the Church that took place nearly 83 years ago.

Opening Ceremony

The highlight of tonight’s opening ceremony was the Eucharistic Adoration, when Jesus himself walked into the Lucas Oil Are you welcoming Jesus or is it Jesus welcoming you? stadium while adorers stood still in awe, praise, thanksgiving in the name of Jesus Christ our King!

Pilgrims were greeted by the Archbishop of Indianapolis, Archbishop Charles C. Thompson. The masters of ceremony for the 10th National Eucharistic Congress, Fr. Josh Johnson, from the diocese of Baton Rouge, Montse Alvarado and Sr. Mariam James assured us it is good that we are here! We’ve been called by our Lord! ¡Viva, Cristo Rey!

What is Eucharistic revival?

Our first presenter, Christophe Cardinal Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, expressed what a gift it is that we can be united to the Church through our Holy Father! His eminence guided us on what is Eucharistic revival, a sacramental devotion that opens up our relationship with Christ by seeing Christ in our day-to-day encounter.

A testimony for life was shared by Sr. Bethany Madonna, Phoenix local Superior, Sisters of Life. God proves His love. God has entrusted us to a mission and made us lovable. When you love someone you prove it, as did Jesus by dying on the cross for us!  The Sister of Life celebrate their 33rd year, their “Jesus year”

There were more than 40,000 people at the Stadium and more than 37,000 viewers online.

Attendee Reactions

Here’s what a few pilgrims had to say about the opening ceremony;

“It was totally amazing to see a stadium full of people drop to their knees when Jesus entered and stay completely quiet for 30+ min of Adoration. Very moving!”
