In this 10th Anniversary Edition of No Turning Back: A Witness to Mercy, the Very Reverend Donald Calloway, MIC, provides a compelling account of his journey from darkness to light. His struggles with severe drug and alcohol abuse, “free” sex, gangs, deception and theft take him down a road that seemingly has no return. By age 20, he “had experienced every sensual satisfaction one could possibly have with women…heard every kind of music, done every kind of drug…and even had money!” But it all seemed worthless and “life sucked.”
Then, with no one to turn to and on a quest for something to occupy his time, he mistook a book, The Queen of Peace Visits Medjugorje for a National Geographic magazine and began to page through it.
This became the turning point in his life. He became “captivated by this someone he could not see – this Virgin Mary” and began a journey that would eventually lead him to become a priest and “fisherman” for God.
You can’t imagine the transformation
Before the conversion of his heart, this once haggard-looking, out-of-shape, high school dropout with waist-length hair, an earring and a Grateful Dead tattoo had no respect for anyone, or anything associated with religion. He disdained Catholicism and laughed at those who practiced it. In his eyes, Catholicism was just a bizarre cult.
Calloway fully exposes the sinful and shameful side of his former life, but he does so “not to provide transparency to be boastful, but to illustrate the totality and depth of the darkness he was in so we can see the full glory and power of God’s grace and mercy – especially through the intercession of the Virgin Mary.”

Today, Don Calloway is the Very Reverend Donald Calloway, who serves as the Vocation Director for the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception. Miracles happen!
No Turning Back: A Witness to Mercy is a story of a God who is so in love with his people that He never leaves them.
This book or its companion DVD would be a great gift for families struggling with a rebellious teen or young adult. There is no reason to give up hope on anyone, no matter how far they are from God.
