Trump’s Diligent Efforts And What Lies Ahead
The long-awaited outcome of the 2024 U.S. Presidential election has finally happened. Thank God for the election of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America! A person, namely Donald J Trump, who has risked his life and survived at least two assassination attempts should have earned the respect of his fellow countrymen and women.
I know at times he was forceful and even insulting to his opponents in a way I wish he had not been! But consider what he and his family have been through. Very few in America could have withstood what he was put through by the media and his political opponents. I believe he ran for a return to the Presidency because he genuinely loves America and wants our country to be respected, strong and a leader in the world.
Elections Have Consequences!
That is an old adage, and the reality of this adage certainly will be seen!
My New Prayer
Asking God to help us stop being such a polarized country and have a government seeking solutions that are best for America and Americans. At the same time, we can show empathy and concern for other countries without becoming a globalist society and country.
Those Driving Progressive Change
For women and men functioning in this modern society of technology development and information overload, it is extremely difficult rearing a family and successfully navigating the challenges of everyday life.
There is often not enough time to do the necessary activities of the day much less keep up with the bureaucratic and complex actions the progressive national leaders are seeking – they are driving progressive change through existing bureaucracy and rule-making, then legislation with more rule-making authority, and using litigation to further expand fundamental changes to American values and our way of life.
Extreme Progressivism Requires Major Corrections
The Biden-Harris administration has pushed their extreme progressivism to a point where there had to be a major correction from the direction they were going. This “major correction” is what the American people have voted to accomplish through the President and the Congress.
Elections Impact on Nerves and Psyche
Weeping May Endure For A Night But Joy Cometh In The Morning (Ps30:5)
My wife Pat and I were really getting anxious leading up to election day. We felt great relief and thankfulness by the time we went to bed in the early hours of Wednesday, November 6, when the results were clear that Trump was going to be elected.
The outcome of the election was wonderful, but there was something more. It took us several days to realize there had been a long undercurrent of emotions taking us back to 2020. The undercurrent coupled with questioning had there been enough amendment for new state statutes to ensure election integrity?
The smoothness of the election across the country on November 5, 2024, the concession call on Wednesday by VP Kamala Harris to President-Elect Trump, and President Biden’s speech indicating there would be a smooth transition of administrations in January 2025, were each helpful. Combined, these certainly made the long-running negative undercurrents impacting our emotions begin to fade and resulted in our believing hope did indeed turn into joy and the future for America is bright.
IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE FOCUS ON PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS THERE WERE OTHER REMARKABLE AND FABULOUS THINGS HAPPENING!
Life is Beautiful Gala A Great Success
On October 20, 2024, St. John Paul II Life Center held its 14th “Life Is Beautiful Gala” at the Renaissance Hotel with more than 600 persons attending.
The backdrop for the Gala was the media blitz after the Dobbs decision causing seven states to adopt state constitutional amendments creating more abortion protections in those states. By clever use of the election process in those states it was made to appear that the American public was turning against protecting the life of the unborn.
The following are how three brave life affirming individuals express their view on protecting the unborn:
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick really connected with the crowd in his remarks after receiving the Defender of Life Award as he shared his personal efforts that have made Texas the leading state in America to protect pre-born innocent life.
Lt. Governor Patrick said,
I’m a Christian first, a conservative second and Republican third. And the bottom line is regardless of your party, regardless of your political affiliation, if you don’t put God first and you’re putting party over God, that’s a bad decision. You put God first. You cannot do anything but represent the people in the way God would want them to be represented.
At the end of the day, we should never, ever retreat on protecting innocent life in the womb. Every baby is born in the image of God. When you abort a baby, you are destroying the image of God. And That should not happen in this country in any time, in any place.
And as long as I know I’m where He (God) wants me to be, that’s the right place, no matter the political fallout.
…But I’ve often wondered if you ask all the babies in the womb, how would they vote? I think all the babies in the womb would be voting to be born – for life!
…But as Texas leads, others follow. So we will lead on this issue. The Texas Senate will never back away from this issue.
Montse Alvardo, the first Latina President and COO of EWTN News, also a recipient of the Defender of Life Award and in her remarks, she said,
…It’s walking with these women, and then they’re witness to each other and the women they talk to – that mom who’s 44 and has a surprise baby and is trying to make the decision between the children she already has and the one she has in the womb. That should never be a choice she has to make.
We should always be there for those women. But I wasn’t doing that. And when I started to, I realized they’re so much braver than I am because their desires lead them to go against the media, culture, the people around them, the devil. They are walking into the fire, and they are choosing to say yes. That ground game is about being there with those women, but it’s also about educating the next generation.
And I love, love, love what is being done here with ultrasounds, but mostly with “A Glimpse Inside.”
You’re going to hear about that tonight, and it’s a wonderful program to reach out to the next generation that is being lied to. I work in media -I know what censorship feels like. At EWTN, we have a show called Pro-life Weekly only about the pro-life issue.
If you can get into classrooms, if you can get outside of that and teach young people what life in the womb really is, you win. My nieces, they look at stuff on TV and they turn around and they say to my sister, “They don’t know what they’re talking about. They’re not as smart as we are. They don’t have the truth.
…I hope that you’ll take your time to really partner with JPII and with A Glimpse Inside, and with educating the next generation on why this is such a pivotal moment for our country and for life.
Kevin and Michelle Roberts were the recipients of the Dignity In Life Award for their nationwide leadership for recognition of the importance of protecting life from conception to natural death. Kevin gave a speech which captivated the attendees. In his speech he said,
“You and groups like yours, are the pro-life movement. I think that’s the first lesson that pro-lifers need to take from the turbulent political season we’ve endured since that wonderful decision, Dobbs.
There’s no question the pro-life cause has had a tough year. We’ve seen state referenda, policy priorities and political rhetoric all move in the wrong direction. And as a result, media elites are trying to craft a narrative that the right to life is now a losing issue. And as usual, a handful of Republican insiders and pundits are willing to help in this gaslighting—and gaslighting it is.
Let’s be very clear about this.
Yes. The cause of life has suffered political setbacks over the last two years, but we’ve endured them in the context of a historic victory. The defeat of Roe v Wade by the US Supreme Court in 2022 represented the greatest triumph for human dignity since the fall of the Soviet Union.
Over time, we found that the fight against Roe demanded a specific legal strategy. It was about winning technical arguments about judicial and constitutional interpretations. And we won that battle. But it was still, in the words of Winston Churchill, “only the end of the beginning.” All Dobbs did was finally return to the pro-life movement, the right to fight for the unborn on a level playing field.
…President Biden, Vice President Harris and Democrat leaders in Congress all support federally funded abortion on demand up to the moment of birth. Indeed, progressive leaders in states are increasingly ambivalent about babies right to life after they are born. Hardly a week goes by without some creepy new anti-baby article at some dying legacy media outlet.
The latest in the dying Los Angeles Times was headlined, “It’s almost shameful to want to have children.”
Nor is it a coincidence that the same elite institutions trying to dehumanize the unborn are trying to devalue every other part of family life – marriage, fatherhood and motherhood, biological sex, parental rights, girls and women’s privacy. Let alone the most pro-child and pro-family institution of all – the church. Make no mistake, this campaign of misinformation covering everything from tax policy to education to IVF is working.
The United States is more child and family unfriendly than it has ever been. The birthrate in the United States has hit an all-time low each of the last two years. Children are enduring an epidemic of mental illness. Only about half of American adults are married, and the rising generation is increasingly likely to proclaim that they never plan to say, “I do.”
What all these trends point toward is more than a single issue political agenda. It’s holistic and existential. That’s what University of Virginia professor Brad Wilcox calls the closing of the American Heart. Is it any wonder that when the Supreme Court returned the fate of the unborn to the democratic process two years ago, our wounded, traumatized, anti-child culture recoiled in the way that it has?
The post Dobbs challenge to the pro-life movement, then, is no longer simple to win a few court cases or change some laws, because to do that thorough the democratic process we’re going to have to first heal our culture. Then, truly create a culture of life. We must help moms, dads, and kids born and unborn on the ground, eye to eye, in real time, not just from conception to birth, but throughout families’ whole lives.
At Heritage…long before the Dobbs decision, we began working on a comprehensive life and family agenda. Pro-woman and man, pro-child, pro-marriage, and pro-human flourishing.
No one in America is doing more today to build that culture than the JP II Life Center and the Vitae Clinic.
We’re talking not about great policy, as important it is, not about great law, as vital as that is, but about the example the daily, hourly example of people at your Center and how we can scale that not just in DC, but far more importantly, throughout this land, so that it really does begin to change the hearts and minds of people who are today vehemently opposed to us. And I think we’re going to do it because of your work.
You meet expectant mothers where they are. You show them the love, the security and the help that all moms deserve. And that, of course, all children need. You offer them medical, emotional, material, and financial support. You were the first pregnancy resource center in this country with two full time OB/GYNs on staff every day. You provide care and support to moms in need from the day they walk in through the first three years of their child’s life.
You launched the groundbreaking education program A Glimpse Inside to help young men and women see the dignity and humanity of unborn babies. You’re publicizing the truth about the dangers of the abortion pill. Thanks to the JPII Life Center, every organization, every campaign, every policy maker now working to answer the American people’s demand for a broader, fuller definition of pro-life has a model right here in Austin, Texas.
…That’s why we’re going to fight for this movement and all the children it serves. Every day of our lives, for ours is not a movement built on power or money, it’s built on divine love, focused on the reopening of the American heart. The work of our movement and the work of the JPII Life Center right here in Austin, of all places, will continue to have eternal consequences for decades to come.
These clearly spoken remarks from three American heroes tell the true story of the importance of protecting human life and not the story foisted on the American public by the greed and drive for money and power of Planned Parenthood assisted by the fake liberal media narrative combining to do the work of the devil killing the innocent unborn babies.
Eucharistic Procession in New York
Pat and I were present on October 15 in New York to participate in the Napa Institute sponsored Eucharistic Procession starting with a Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral and then processing with the Blessed Sacrament being carried with some 7,000 people following.
Hard to believe, but all on the streets of NYC were respectful, except one bicyclist who pushed his way through the crowd as we processed about a mile ending up back at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The New York police did a beautiful job assisting.
Calling for Renewal of Catholic Healthcare
On November 2, Pat and I were on the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana, for the Catholic Healthcare Leadership Alliance Symposium for the Advancement of Catholic Healthcare to participate on a panel to discuss ways to create more centers and clinics like the St. John Paul II Life Center and Vitae Clinic. The other clinics represented were Bella Health + Wellness from Denver, Colorado, and the St. Giana Clinic from Green Bay Wisconsin. There was clear support for assisting other plans across the US to open more centers and clinics to serve women and protect unborn human life.
Many positive and exciting things are happening in a life-affirming manner, unfortunately not shared with the citizenry by the media. So many reasons for there to be HOPE which will bring JOY to individuals and families and expose the BEAUTY that exits in God’s creations given for us to enjoy and for life to flourish.
NOW IS THE TIME TO MOVE FORWARD COURAGEOUSLY, CLEARLY EXPLAINING THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF WOMEN IN OUR SOCIETY, HAVING THAT RECOGNITION PROPERLY FUNDED AND EDUCATING WOMEN AND MEN ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF LIFE AFFIRMING HEALTHCARE FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY AND THE WORLD.
Happy Thanksgiving!
